Psyonix and Tencent teamed Up To Bring Rocket League To China

Rocket League has over 30 million players to date with 1.25 billion online matches played, and growing. Developer Psyonix made a huge announcement at Tencent UP 2017 event that they are partnering up with the world’s biggest video gaming company – Tencent to bring PC version of Rocket League to China.

The Chinese version of Rocket League will not cost anything as the game will be free to play. Psyonix will be working closely with Tencent to ensure consistency and quality of the game in China.

With the new release, there will also be changes to the Chinese version of Rocket League to better suit the expectations of that community. Though the core gameplay experience will remain unchanged, our traditional framework will be replaced with a new streamlined free-to-play system. In keeping with Rocket League traditions, however, the Chinese free-to-play version will not follow a “pay-to-win” formula, and will instead hold true to our “community first” mantra, where skill and teamwork are your most important attributes.

New players from China won’t be able to grab a copy of Rocket League through Steam and the good news is that existing communities will still be able to access the game with all other currently-available features for the game.
